Reclaiming her life!
Carol arrived at Gillette Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation after a hip fracture that had left her dependent with most activities of daily living. Although she was once independent, she now needed help with even the simplest of tasks, and that change was overwhelming.
Her journey wasn’t easy, in fact she faced multiple setbacks- pain, fatigue and even a brief medical complication that slowed her progress. There were days she felt discouraged and unsure if she would ever walk again.
Fortunately, Carol had a strong support system. The nursing staff provided consistent care and encouragement. OT helped her regain independence with dressing, bathing and daily routines. PT worked tirelessly to rebuild her strength and mobility, guiding her from stepping and standing to even walking while ST supported her cognitive focus and confidence, helping her to stay motivated and engaged.
Her family also stood by her every step of the way, offering love, reassurance and motivation when she needed it most.
Despite the setbacks, Carol kept pushing forward. Gradually she improved – needing less and less assistance, gaining strength and becoming more confident. IN time she progressed from dependence to independence, walking again and completing her activities of daily living on her own!
By the time she was ready for discharge from Gillette, Carol had not only met her goals- she exceeded them! Carol impressed everyone around her with her strength, resilience and remarkable return to independence. What a comeback! Congratulation Carol and Team Gillette!
