Karen came into Concord Village needing a lot of help after a surgery, now she's back in action!

Karen came to Concord Village after having back surgery. Karen had a tough start to her therapy programs and recovery due to a high pain level. However, with her own determination and encouragement from her family and therapists, she was able to overcome this! Karen is now able to complete her self-care routine without any physical assistance, walk with the walker, complete some light housekeeping tasks, and negotiate stairs. Initially she was dependent in all of these areas!

Her favorite part of therapy was “seeing all you people down there and interacting with others”. She emphasized how nice it was socializing with the therapists and other patients. Her least favorite part of her recovery was using the mechanical lift and reflected that as a former rehab tech, she was able to sympathize with what the patients she used to help went through. She plans to discharge to her daughter’s home to continue her recovery with home health therapy before returning to her own home. Karen stated, “going home is a joy” and is excited to getting back to crafting and making wreaths. We wish Karen a wonderful, happy holiday season!
