The therapy team at LakeMed created a motivating program to encourage post therapy mobility in the absence of a formal Restorative Nursing Program!
The Red Sneaker Group at LakeMed is a “select” group of individuals who can walk or propel themselves through the halls of the facility. Each participant has an individually prescribed distance they must go to collect a Red Sneaker! Once a month they can trade in their sneaker “bucks” for prizes and useful items at the “Sneaker Store”. A blank calendar helps participants keep track of thier laps to earn a sneaker since the facility is laid out in a square. Generous donations have helped to stock the Sneaker Store with valued prizes, just look at the variety of items offered! What a great way to motivate and reward residents who keep moving after therapy- Great Job to FRC/OTA Scott Archer and his team at LakeMed!
As we prepare for the holidays, our hearts are full of Thanks Giving for our therapists and customers!
