Melea

Regional Director Melea has been with Arbor Rehab for just under 5 years. She initially came on board as a Facility Rehab Coordinator (FRC) at Glenwood Care Center in Canton Ohio and energized the team and facility with fun and creative events throughout the year.  She and her team put on an indoor/ outdoor scavenger hunt, Therapy Camp complete with contests and a tent as well as multiple facility staff appreciation activities to connect the therapy team with nursing. In fact, interacting with the staff, residents and families while having fun is something Melea misses in her administrative role.

Melea advanced to becoming a Regional Director and enjoys this position as she has an even greater opportunity to understand the inner workings of nursing homes, finances and of course therapy integration. She was curious to better understand the How and Why of contract therapy and nursing home business, so this is a great fit for her! When asked what she likes best about her management role, she noted that she loves building rapport with customers and therapy teams, bridging gaps and problem solving to build excellent and efficient teams.

If Melea were to give advice to a newer manager, she’d want them to understand that everything takes teamwork, that it is important to be more of a leader than a boss. In addition, patience, understanding, and adaptability are required. Melea certainly exemplifies these traits, and she is a life-long student. In addition to her associate degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management while working and raising a family.

Working for Arbor Rehab is rewarding to Melea because she sees firsthand the corporate decisions that are made do truly consider individual employees and residents as family.  With her business and clinical background, she is able to balance the fiscal responsibilities that go with her position with the need to deliver high quality compassionate care. Her values align strongly with Arbor Rehab’s!

Outside of work, Melea enjoys crafting, decorating cakes (which she has done for 22 years!)  and her family. Time with her husband, kids and cat are important to her. She has 2 boys and a girl ranging in ages from 10-17. She is constantly on the go with them from sporting events, academic activities, and theater arts!

Melea is a dynamic asset to the Arbor team, and we are proud to consider her a colleague!
