The Ohio Health Care Association annual convention was held May 2-4 in Columbus Ohio. Arbor Rehabilitation and Healthcare not only hosted a booth at the event but both Regional Manager Mark Stapleton and Director of Clinical Compliance Cindy Hudson co-presented at the event. On Wednesday the session ” Are You Fully Maximizing the New 57 Grouper” attracted over 200 attendees! This session presented information about RUGS IV and new guidelines related to the 57 Grouper. It was interesting to note no other presenters tackled this complex but critical topic.
Strategies to maximize accurate case mix scoring in light of the updates were shared with participants. The revised case mix calculation and scoring systems were reviewed along with benfits of stand alone quarterlies, translated terminology from therapy to nursing and inclusion of therapy observations for ADL scoring. Discussion of the financial impact of these changes was also included in the presentation. Participants were busy taking notes to empower their facilities with effective approaches to maximizing case mix scoring under the new system.
